The Department of Classics of King’s College London welcomes applications for a fixed-term position as Lecturer in Classical Art and Archaeology (Academic Education Path, or AEP). This position is to cover the teaching of Professor Michael Squire and is tenable for 12 months from 1 September 2022.

You will also be expected to contribute to the administration and pastoral provision of the Department of Classics.

This is a full-time post
Key responsibilities
-Deliver team-taught and specialized teaching at UG and PGT levels
-Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations
-Contribute to the pastoral care of UG and PGT students as a tutor
-Fulfill appropriate administration roles within the department
-Contribute to the research and impact culture in Classics and King’s
The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.
Skills, knowledge, and experience
Essential criteria
-PhD completed in Classical Art or Archaeology, or a closely related area
-Experience of convening and assessing modules in Classical Art and Archaeology or similar subjects
-Ability to teach the modules listed in the role profile, engage students and support their learning
-Capacity to provide academic advice and pastoral support to students
-Strong track record in research relative to career stage
-Demonstrable administrative and interpersonal skills, a collaborative ethos, and capacity for team-working
-High standard of organizational skills
Desirable criteria
-Experience of teaching and supporting students at PGT level
-Desire to develop new initiatives and foster the teaching and research excellence of the department, Faculty and College
-Completion of appropriate training in Higher Education teaching and learning/academic practice
