The Department of the History of Art and Architecture at the University of Oregon invites applications to its MA and PhD programs in Art History. The University of Oregon is located in the Pacific Northwest, renowned for its natural beauty and great quality of life. HA&A is home to a rich variety of research in the history, theory, and criticism of visual and material culture from antiquity to the present day. We welcome graduate students in all areas of art and architectural history. HA&A offers fully funded PhD fellowships for competitive candidates. It is especially well-known for its focus on the art and architecture of the Pacific Rim — the Americas and East Asia in particular — as well as the Mediterranean world. In addition to these regional foci, the department currently has faculty research clusters in urbanism and architecture; modern and contemporary art; and museum, curatorial, and exhibition studies. It also offers a graduate certificate in Museum Studies that can be pursued in conjunction with an MA or a PhD program. The application deadline is January 15.
