The deadline for submissions to the student conference on Byzantine Studies, “Παρρησία”, is fast approaching. The Organizing Committee warmly invites students and young scholars to submit their proposals and join for this engaging academic event, which will take place on March 7, 2025.

This conference provides a platform for discussing a wide range of topics related to Byzantine history, culture, religion, art, and literature. We welcome contributions from historians, philologists, art historians, archaeologists, and other specialists whose research focuses on Byzantium from the 4th to the 15th centuries. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

– Political history and governance
– Byzantine theology
– Art and architecture
– Daily life in Byzantium
– Byzantium’s interactions with neighbouring cultures etc.

The conference will be hosted by the Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies, Faculty of Humanities, National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University, Moscow) in a hybrid format (online and on-spot). Please note that accommodation and travel expenses are covered by the sending party.
