The Department of Paleoanthropology and Speleology needs room for the following activities: an anthropology lab and storage space, geological lab and space for assembly of fossils, labs for biology, ethnobotanology, for the study of ground stone tools, a lab for zooarchaeology, space for assembly of fossils from caves, a caves archive, a lab for restoration of antiquities and a library. In this article the number of staff that ought to be employed by the Department is given, according to what field each employee specializes in. The Department’s work would include inquests on the field and intervention for the preservation of caves. The Department would supervise excavations taken on by local ephorates and by foreign schools of archaeology and would work together with the Greek tourist board (EOT). The author of the article points out that the touristic development of caves can be disastrous unless the necessary specifications are kept.
