84 papers will be presented at the annual archaeological meeting about the excavations of 2012 in Macedonia and Thrace, which will take place at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, on March 20th-22nd, 2013. The conference will be attended by 183 experts. It is the 26th meeting about the Archaeological Work in Macedonia and Thrace. Every year since 1987 these meetings Greek and foreign archaeologists, architects, civil engineers, chemists, geologists, anthropologists, palaeobotanists, and conservators, scientists specialising in the study of our historical past and committed to preserving, protecting, promoting, and exploring the area of Macedonia and Thrace all come together for three days, during which they present new archaeological finds, read and listen to important scientific papers, make constructive comments and exchange interpretative approaches about the antiquities of Macedonia and Thrace.

Archaeologists of the Greek ephorates, the University and the foreign archaeological schools in Greece share their newly-acquired knowledge. These new findings are being communicated promptly to the international scientific community through the Proceedings of the Archaeological Work in Macedonia and Thrace, which are regularly published every year.

Supporters of the Archaeological Work in MAcedonia and Thrace are the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUT) and the Research Committee of the AUT.
