The exhibition “Thessaloniki. Costakis Collection. Restart” will be shown June 29 – September 16, 2018 at the State Museum of Contemporary Art Moni Lazariston (21, Kolokotroni str., Moni Lazariston, 56430 Stavroupoli, Thessaloniki).
In this great exhibition on the Russian avant-garde period, the basic directions in the art of this shocking period of the first decades of the 20th century will be re-examined; through the historical context of the great vision of changing the world questions were raised on the relationship between painting and poetry, architecture, music, theater, science and new positions and manifestations were also set up; ultimately, Russian avant garde acted as the ground for a totally innovative philosophy that aimed at the role art can play in order to the established aesthetic conventions to be removed.
The exhbition will also highlight the inspired collector George Costakis, who set the goal of his life to rescue this art from oblivion and destruction.
