On Thursday, September 23, officers of the Kalymnos Police Department arrested a man on the charge of illegal possession of antiquities. After evaluating data, a search was carried out on the business run by the accused, as part of targeted operations by the General Regional Police Directorate of the South Aegean for the protection of cultural heritage. An ancient stone hand mill was found and confiscated, as were 3 ancient clay amphorae, 32 pieces and 4 handles of different sized ancient amphorae as well as six pieces of clay vessels.

The confiscated ancient items fall under the protective provisions of Law 3028/02 and are being kept to be handed over to the competent services of the Ministry of Culture for further evaluation.
