The exhibition “KALLOS. The Supreme Beauty” will run until January 16. It has been mounted by the Museum of Cycladic Art in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Sports, with the generous support of L’Oréal. Due to an increased number of visitors, the museum will extend its opening hours by remaining open every day including Tuesdays from 10:00 to 20:00, from Monday December 20 and over the holiday season.

From December 20, the experience of visitors to the exhibition will be further enriched with 9 thematic videos describing its units and screened in the museum foyer : The exhibition’s two curators, Professor Nikolaos Chr. Stampolidis and Dr. Ioannis D. Fappas, will be giving a guided tour of Archaic and Classical Beauty, Divine and the Daemonic Beauty, Mortal Beauty, Kaloi” and “Kales” in Antiquity, Athletic Beauty, Heroic Beauty, Abductions of Beauty and Erotic Encounters, Beauty Contests of Deities,Timely Beauty Untimely Death and Beautification.The videos with Greek and English subtitles can also be seen in the exhibition’s microsite: https://kallos.cycladic.gr/

The exhibition “KALLOS. The Supreme Beauty “presents the multiple aspects of the concept of “Beauty” in the everyday life and philosophy of ancient Greece. Three hundred emblematic antiquities from fifty-two Museums, Collections and Ephorates of Antiquities throughout Greece, Italy, Sicily and the Vatican are being presented ,in their vast majority, for the first time outside their museums of origin and at the Museum of Cycladic Art to fully display Beauty as an ideal concept The selected exhibits date mainly from the 7th  to the 1st  century B.C, ie from the Archaic to the Hellenistic period.
