The Ancient Anatolia Network is delighted to launch the first Anatolian Languages and Linguistics Summer School, which will take place in Oxford (Radcliffe Humanities Building and Wolfson College) on 18-22 June 2024.

It will consist of four modules, taught by specialists in the field:

Writing systems in ancient Anatolia –  Annick Payne, Ca’ Foscari University, Venice
Lydian language and linguistics – Ilya Yakubovich, Philipps University, Marburg
The Hittites: Texts and Contexts – Theo van den Hout, The University of Chicago
Anatolian historical linguistics –  H. Craig Melchert, UCLA

The Summer School is open to everyone, and there are no specific prerequisites, but some familiarity with basic linguistic and grammatical terminology will be assumed. Knowledge of one or more ancient Indo-European languages will be an advantage.

The registration deadline is 15th May 2024. Please, note that places are limited, so the sooner you book, the better! Early bird discounts until April 1st, and bursaries are available thanks to the generosity of the Institute of Classical Studies and the Philological Society (deadline: 15th March).
