The application season for graduate programs is approaching. For prospective students, and those who advise prospective students, there are two opportunities for funding for the Indiana University MA program in Egyptology.

First, the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures often needs Teaching Assistants in Japanese. If you are a native speaker of Japanese, or have reached a high level of Japanese proficiency through study, there is a reasonable chance that you could get funding to come to Indiana University as a Japanese TA. Please be in touch if you’d like to learn more about this possibility.

Second, for U.S. citizens and permanent residents, the Foreign Languages – Area Studies scholarship through the U.S. Department of Education is a great opportunity to fund graduate education. FLAS provides full tuition and a stipend for the study of critical modern languages, including Arabic, and several IU Egyptology students have
gotten funding in this way. And Arabic is not the only option. Again, be in touch with me to learn more, and also have a look at this link for more information on FLAS scholarships at Indiana University:

IU Egyptology is the most effective MA program in the U.S. and Canada in placing its graduates in top Egyptology Ph.D. programs; we have alumni currently enrolled at
Harvard (4 students), UCLA (3 students), Yale, Toronto, CUNY Graduate Center, Liverpool, Goettingen, and here at IU (in Informatics). You can learn more about us here:
