The Call for Papers for the next “Current Research in Egyptology” conference, which is to be held in Tokyo, Japan, from the 11th to the 15th of July 2026 is now open!

The CRE (http://cregyptology.org.uk/) is intended to provide students and early-career researchers with a platform to present their completed and ongoing research to an audience of peers. To this end, we welcome abstracts on all ages and aspects of Egyptology and Nubiology, including, but not limited to:

– Administration and Daily Life

– Archaeology

– Art History

– Mythology and Religion

– Cultural Contact

– Diversity in Ancient Egypt

– History of Egyptology

– Restoration and Conservation

– Interdisciplinary Methods

– Language and Literature

– Theory of Egyptology

– Medical Practices

– Egyptomania

– Museology

This year’s CRE will provide the following presentation formats:

1. Standard presentation – 20-minute presentation, plus
discussion.

2. Short presentation – 10-minute presentation, plus
discussion.

3. Poster presentation – Poster displayed in the foyer
of the event location, with a dedicated poster session.

Abstracts should be submitted through our Google Form

Abstracts should not exceed 300 words and should be submitted no later than 16 January 2026. The official language of the conference is English. Abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by an external scientific committee. Accepted contributions (oral and poster) will be grouped in sessions and allocated timeslots. The presenting author will be invited to
register for the conference and to attend the event in person.

Important dates:
– 16 January 2026: Deadline for abstract submissions.
– Late February–30 April 2026: Early-bird registration.
– Late February 2026: Notification of acceptance.
– 1 May–30 June 2026: Late registration.

We will keep people informed over the coming months with information about CRE in Tokyo. This will contain more information about registration fees and Tokyo as a conference destination.
