The new project of the Penn Museum “In the Artifact Lab: Conserving Egyptian Mummies” has been inaugurated on September 30. Visitors are invited “behind the velvet ropes”, in a 2,000 square foot exhibition. In the newly installed Artifact Lab they get the chance to peek behind the scenes, as conservators of the Penn Museum work on a wide array of Egyptian objects including rare paintings, ancient funerary objects, and, of course, mummies!

The Egyptian collection of the Penn Museum is one of the largest in the USA.
