The CAA/ACA 2015 Organizing Committee announced that the 47th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Archaeological Association will be held at the Sheraton Hotel, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador from April 29-May 3, 2015.
The Organizing Committee invites all to participate in the conference as a session organizer, presenter of a paper or poster or simply by attending the conference. Sessions, papers and posters on all areas of interest to the Canadian archaeological community may be submitted.
Given that this conference will take place in Newfoundland and Labrador participants are encouraged to submit sessions, papers or posters that reflect the interplay between Aboriginal cultures, between Aboriginal cultures and European newcomers, and among European settlers. These topics are particularly appropriate for Newfoundland and Labrador, a province rich in First Nations, Inuit, and Metis history and the scene of some of the first European landfalls in the New World.
Registration will start in the late afternoon of April 29, and a reception will be held at the Sheraton that evening. Sessions and workshops will start on the morning of Thursday, April 30 and will finish on the afternoon of Saturday, May 2nd. The banquet will be held on Saturday evening, May 2nd. The conference organizers are currently compiling an exciting set of workshops and tours, along with the ever-popular pub crawl; the details will be posted as they are available. They are also working on events specifically geared towards students.
