The PhD Program in Classics at Johns Hopkins is currently accepting applications for Fall 2021 admission.

Founded in 1876 as the first research university in the United States, Johns Hopkins has trained generations of scholars of classical antiquity and its influence.

Faculty in Classics and related fields at Johns Hopkins offer expertise across the languages, literatures, culture, history, philosophy, art, and archaeology of the ancient world.  In addition, the university offers unusual strength in classical reception, Neo-Latin, and the history of classical scholarship. Key resources include a strong research library and an archaeological museum whose holdings include much classical and ancient Mediterranean material.

Generous packages of financial support are available for qualified applicants. In addition to remission of tuition/fees, the current five-year funding package includes full tuition remission and a stipend of at least $30,500 per year. Applications from international students are welcome and are considered for the same support.

The deadline for application for fall 2021 admission is January 15, 2021.
