Symposium on Water, Wastewater, and Environment

IWA Regional Symposium

“IWA Regional Symposium on Water, Wastewater, and Environment: Traditions and Culture”, will be held in Patras, Greece, March 22-24, 2014.

Authors are invited to submit their English written manuscripts of maximum 10 pages, including figures and tables (as a single-spaced MS word file) via e-mail to wwetc2014@uwg.gr no later than August 31st 2013. Manuscripts will be accepted based on quality, originality and relevance to the Symposium themes. All accepted manuscripts (papers or posters) will be published in the Symposium e-Proceedings. Only presented contributions (papers and posters) will also be reviewed by the International Reviewing Committee for publication in a special edition of Water Science and Technology, Water Supply, based on their quality, originality and relevance to the Symposium. Please follow the Instructions to authors given at http://www.iwaponline.com/wst/i2a.htm in preparation of your manuscrips.

Notification of Papers Acceptance: 31st October 2013

• Ancient and traditional methods, practices, and techniques of water and wastewater resource management in ancient civilizations

• Historical development of urban water supplies (e.g. cisterns, aqueducts, qanats and wells)

• Urban water use in ancient civilizations

• The evolution of urban wastewater and storm water management practices and technologies through the centuries

• History of water and climatic changes and/or variability

• Cultural heritage in river basins

• The evolution of sanitation and water born diseases

• Ancient influences on modern water and wastewater technologies

• The cultural and socio-economic role of water and wastewater in ancient civilizations

• The history of irrigation

• Environmental history
