The B&E Goulandris Foundation joins forces with the National Gallery in London, which is celebrating its 200th birthday this year, by lending two Vincent van Gogh masterpieces to the commemorative exhibition organised in London from September 14, 2024 to January 29, 2025. In return, the National Gallery has lent the Foundation two unique works from its Collection – Paul Gauguin’s Still life with vase and Paul Cézanne’s Landscape with poplars – that are on display at the first floor of the permanent Collection until January 2025.

As part of the presentation of the two National Gallery works, the B&E Goulandris Foundation has scheduled two creative workshops for children aged 5-7 and 8-12 as well as a thematic guided tour.

Creative workshops for children

Two different creative workshops for children, designed especially for the two National Gallery works, will kick off on Sunday September 22. The workshop What do our eyes remember?, for children aged 5-7, has been designed for Gauguin’s painting while the workshop for children aged 8-12 Cézanne’s Minecraft: Notebook, page 1 focuses on Cézanne’s work.

What do our eyes remember?

Workshop for children aged 5 to 7 (in Greek)

Every Sunday from 22/09 | 10.00-11.15

Drawing inspiration from Paul Gauguin’s work “Still life with vase”, that is part of the collection of the National Gallery in London, children aged 5 to 7 observe the exotic flowers the artist came across during his travels to his beloved Tahiti and explore flower painting that was popular at the end of the 19th century.

At the workshop “What do our eyes remember?”, children make their own flower composition which they then depict on paper guided by their senses. Flowers, stencils, colourful inks and essential oils are the materials that they will use, along with endless imagination.

Workshop for children aged 8 to 12 (in Greek)

Every Sunday from 22/09 | 11.45-13.00

Is our world an endless geometric universe?

At the workshop “Cézanne’s Minecraft: Notebook, page 1” children aged 8 to 12 discover Paul Cézanne’s “constructive” painting by observing the objects around them as if they were cubes, cylinders, cones and balls, all of them placed inside a colourful composition.

Using as a starting point Cézanne’s work “Landscape with poplars”, that is part of the collection of the National Gallery in London, children paint a moving landscape on a grid just like “building” step by step a three dimensional world on paper.

Thematic guided tour

“Paul Gauguin – Paul Cézanne”

Thematic guided tour on the occasion of the two National Gallery works on display at the B&E Goulandris Foundation (in Greek)

Every Saturday & Sunday from 2/11 to 24/11 | 16.00-16.30

The B&E Goulandris Foundation has designed a 30-minute thematic guided tour, to give Greek audiences an in-depth view of the two National Gallery works and help them understand how these paintings are related to the permanent Collection works next to which they have been placed. The guided tour will be taking place every Saturday and Sunday in November, 16.00-16.30.
